WILO Technikzentrale
Europe's largest LED screen adorns the new production building in Dortmund and sets new standards in building communication
The Wilo Campus: architecture meets digital innovation
Innovation and digital pioneering at the headquarters, the Wilo Campus
Wilo SE - Leader in building technology and water management
WILO SE is a hidden champion in the field of building technology and water management, specializing in modern pump systems. At the Group headquarters in Dortmund, the Wilo Campus, the new production facility was built in close cooperation with Tennagels Medientechnik to emphasize that WILO SE can also be perceived as a digital pioneer.
State-of-the-art display solutions as a link between production and presentation
The technical center in the heart of the factory
The technical center is an upstream part of the 41,220 square meter “Factory”. The Factory’s building technology is installed in it. The technical center is surrounded by an outer and an inner LED screen.
The part of the technical center visible from the outside is framed by a 46m wide and 7m high outdoor LED screen. The special thing about this screen is not only its size, which makes it the largest LED screen in Europe, but also its unique design. The screen nestles seamlessly around the building with rounded corners.
A 28m wide and 2.75m high high-resolution LED screen was installed inside the Factory.
Tennagels Medientechnik enables new forms of visitor guidance and information transfer
Interactive presentations using the latest media technology
The screens are used to present the Wilo product portfolio and references, but are primarily used as a starting point for visitor tours. In cooperation with WILO, the Tennagels screens were integrated into an interactive factory tour, which can be controlled by the tour guide using a tablet. In this way, specific content can be called up or visitors can be informed about various parameters of the production processes with the help of a dashboard. A total of seven different “widgets” with interfaces to the WILO ERP system and the building management system provide information on the number of pumps produced at the locations or on the electricity generated by the photovoltaic system.
Tennagels acts as a full-service provider and was involved early on in the construction phase of the building to coordinate interfaces with other trades. The image and audio signals are transmitted from one of the data centers on the campus via fiber optic lines as well as via the Group’s own IT infrastructure in order to be able to easily integrate and play out decentralized signals. For example, the screens are also used for live broadcasts of major internal events. It was also possible to implement interfaces to the building management system for remotely switching the system on or off via the IT system.
