More InformationSince its inauguration in 1935, the Duisburg regatta course has enjoyed a worldwide reputation among canoeists and rowers. The German national team trains here for the Olympic Games and international competitions, most recently the 2013 Canoe Racing World Championships, which are held here. The technical background is therefore particularly important for the transmission of such dimensions and it requires absolute dedication and detailed work, which tennagels has accomplished with particular commitment.
Broadcast in new LED quality
The Duisburg regatta course is known as the competition course for canoeing and rowing. It is 2,180 m long and 120 m wide and is located in the Duisburg sports park in the south of Duisburg’s Neudorf district. The sports park is the largest of its kind in Germany. In addition to the grandstand, which offers 2,292 seats, there are also addition grandstands that are set up for large events. A total of 8,000 spectators can watch the regattas from the grandstands and the windbreak. Areas are constantly being redesigned and work is being carried out on the infrastructure. Areas are constantly being are designed and work is being carried out on the infrastructure.
It may not be visible at first glance, but many steps have been taken to bring the visibility and the technology in the background to a successful conclusion. Compared to the previous model, the new LED wall is state of the art. This ensures high energy efficiency and improves transmission quality. Thanks to the choice of SMD LEDs, the viewing angle for viewers is almost 180°. This means that viewers can continue to follow the exciting sporting events and benefit from better LED quality. The LED wall itself is 12.48 m wide and 6.72 m high and has a pixel pitch of 10 mm.
Fantastic technology by tennagels
Of course, there is a lot of technology behind the stunning visual work. When taking over the existing systems, tennagels mastered the challenge of organizing the sheer number of 29 projectors into a coherent projection and setting it up in such a way that the transitions from one projector to another are invisible to the viewer. Three projectors were added to integrate the central cube into the immersive show. In addition, the projectors’ climate protection housing was manufactured in-house at tennagels.
The audio system has also been expanded and the hardware of the playback system has received a technical upgrade. The entire feed and control system has been redesigned on the basis of the “Vertex” software from Ioversal. With the help of this system, customers can intuitively control all shows and add new content themselves. Monitors have also been installed in the building, on which information about the following show is displayed. In conclusion, this project was a challenge because of its environment and unique dimension.
tennagels develops LED future technology with great enthusiasm and special motivation. Individual and creative work is just as important as dealing with standard solutions for indoor and outdoor LED screens. Our LED visions are suitable for large soccer stadiums, but also for smaller sports and event venues.
