Dialogue between people and technology

Spheres (2020) is a choreographic installation on the intersection of intimacy, communication and artificial intelligence that allows three performers, 12 intelligent spheres and visitors to interact in a museum space. The focus is on communication between humans and technology and the question of how movement in different bodies can be transformed through interaction, approximation and chance

During the performance, the dancers interact with the spheres for over 30 minutes by means of movements and positioning. They not only recognize the performers’ intentions (and react to them), but also learn to communicate with the performers over time. The result is a vivid and explorative study of encounters, communication and agency. In collaboration with Mirevi, Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences and tennagels under the MARTA project.

Do robots have their own agency on stage?

The Spheres work is a process. The current status of the work was presented at festivals and conferences, and the premiere of the play took place in November 2020 at the Festspielhaus Hellerau at the Festival 4:3.
