Historic gas boiler meets state-of-the-art presentation technology

Welcome to the Visiodrom: Wuppertal's breathtaking 360° cultural experience world

With the largest 360° screen in Europe, Wuppertal is home to a crowd-puller that delights art and technology enthusiasts alike. A listed gas boiler has been converted into an exhibition and event space – the Visiodrom.

Changing exhibitions on artists such as Monet or Leonardo Da Vinci take visitors into multimedia dream worlds 5 days a week. Tennagels Medientechnik GmbH supports the Visiodrom team with technical expertise and is responsible for the installation of projectors in individually manufactured climate protection enclosures, the equipment with modern sound technology and the installation and maintenance of the complex media server system.

Intuitive control and guidance system for a seamless visitor experience

Unique spaces for your events: flexible and impressive

A total of 33 projectors illuminate over 6,500 square meters of projection surface, spread across the interior wall of the gas boiler, the roof of the building, the floor and an interior cube. A media server system, which was integrated and programmed by Tennagels, is responsible for feeding the video content created especially for the Visiodrom. The time-controlled switching on and off of the entire technology is also fully automatic. The system’s individually developed user interface enables the Visiodrom team to rent out the premises to external companies as an event space in addition to regular exhibition and show operations. This means that the customer’s own content or even simple PowerPoint presentations can be played out without long preparation times in order to realize an individual event in this special atmosphere. The central control and media server system is also used to guide visitors throughout the building. Numerous displays show the time remaining until the start of the next admission to the show and provide additional information on how to use the remaining time. In this way, unnecessary waiting times in front of elevators or congestion in stairwells can be avoided in the event of increased visitor numbers.

Provision of materials and partnership

Successful collaboration and system integration

TMT supplied all the materials to the fit-out company Merima Oy and integrated them in direct cooperation with their on-site team. The TMT team benefited from its experience with new builds and ship prototypes, as a cooperative, solution-oriented performance on site is essential to achieving the common goal. The highly experienced commissioning engineers for the sound, lighting and video systems also created a perfect basis for the end customer’s show programming. They also worked hand in hand during the commissioning phase, which created trust on both sides and ultimately enabled the entire system to be handed over to the customer and end customer smoothly and on time.
